Getting access to HG MCP Server — end user

0. Who is this documentation for?

What this doc covers

You want to use HG MCP Server, or somebody has invited you. This page shows you how to get in, from the address you sign up with to a working connection.

Prerequisites

You want to use HG MCP Server and do not have access yet.

1. You need a work email address

HG configures your HG MCP Server app workspace and your MCP tool access from your company domain, you belong to an organization tied to your email domain, and your colleagues will belong to the same one. A personal address does not allow that, so signup requires a corporate one.

Address you sign up withWhat happens
Your work email addressAccepted.
A personal address, Gmail, Outlook, Yahoo and the likeAn error message is shown when you enter the address. Sign up again with your work address.

If you believe your company address was refused in error, contact your HG representative, they can confirm the domain for you.

There are two ways into an organization: someone invites you, or you sign up yourself. If you have an invitation waiting, go to step 2. If not, go to step 3.

2. You have been invited

note

This step only applies if somebody has invited you, which means you received an email titled “You’re invited to a team”. If nobody has, skip it and go to step 3.

You receive an email titled “You’re invited to a team”, naming the organization, the team and your role. Open it and click Accept invitation.

That takes you to a page with two ways to finish. Either create a password for your work email address, or sign in with Google or Microsoft if your work address is one of those, that signs you in with your existing company account, and there is no password to create. Once you have done either, you are a member of the organization.

Invitations expire after 7 days. If yours has lapsed, ask whoever sent it to invite you again.

note

You are now in, go straight to step 6. Steps 3 to 5 describe signing up on your own and do not apply to you.

3. Sign up

note

Steps 3 to 5 are for signing up on your own. If you were invited, go to step 2 instead.

Go to phoenix.hginsights.com/auth/signup. On a desktop browser you can also click Sign Up in the header.

There are two ways to continue:

How you sign upWhat happens next
Sign up with Google or MicrosoftYour address is already verified, so there is no verification email and no password to set. Go straight to step 5.
Enter your work email addressA verification email is sent to that address. Go to step 4.

A personal address is refused either way.

Talk to Sales opens a form to our team and does not create an account.

4. Verify your email

If you signed up with Google or Microsoft, there is no verification email; you are already past this step.

Open the link in the verification email. That confirms the address, you are not asked for a password yet.

warning

The page will sit loading and then show a browser error. That is expected at the moment, and it does not mean your sign-up failed. The address is verified the moment you click the link, the error happens afterwards, on the way to the next page. Do not sign up again; it will end the same way.

Judge it by your inbox, not by the screen. Within a few minutes you should receive a second email, “You’re all set”, with a Claim your account button. That email is the confirmation that it worked.

If no second email arrives, contact an admin at your company or your HG representative.

Claiming your account. This is the step that actually creates your account, until you have done it, you cannot sign in.

You receive a second email, “You’re all set”, telling you which organization you are in and your role. It has a Claim your account button, click it.

That takes you to the sign-in page. If you use Google or Microsoft, sign in there and you are done, go to step 6. To use a password instead, follow the Forgot password link on that page. It takes you to the reset-password screen, which is also how you set your first one, you have not gone wrong.

Your password must:

  • be at least 8 characters long
  • include at least one uppercase letter
  • include at least one lowercase letter
  • include at least one number
  • include at least one special character
warning

If the page says something generic like “Invalid request” or “An error occurred” when you submit, it usually means the password did not meet one of these, the message does not say so. Check the list above and try again.

The claim link is valid for three months, the email gives the exact date. If it has lapsed, contact your HG representative.

5. Joining or creating an organization

This happens as soon as you click the link in the verification email, or straight after signing up with Google or Microsoft. A page opens in your browser; nothing is sent by email at this point.

SituationWhat happens
Your company already has an organization, and you want to join itYou are told an account already exists for your company domain — the screen does not name it — and you choose Request to join existing account. Its admins are notified and one of them approves. It is worth telling an admin directly that the request is waiting, they act on it faster when they know to look. If nobody responds within 72 hours the request lapses and you are both told; sign up again to restart it.
Your company already has an organization, but your team needs its ownChoose create a separate one instead. You are asked to name it, and can add a short description. You become its admin, and it starts with 100 credits by default.
Your company is not on HG MCP Server yetYou are asked to name the organization, and can add a short description. It is created with you as its admin, and starts with 100 credits by default.
note

If your company runs more than one organization, you are shown one of them. If it is not your team’s, ask a colleague which one you should be in and have them invite you directly, that puts you in the right place straight away.

6. Connect to HG MCP Server

Once your account is ready you receive a confirmation email telling you which organization you are in and your role. From there, connecting to the MCP server is documented in Getting Started.

7. If something goes wrong

What you seeWhat it meansWhat to do
"Corporate Email Address Required"The address is not a work address.Sign up again with your work address. If your company address was wrongly refused, contact your HG representative, they can confirm the domain.
No verification email arrivesEither the address was refused, or the mail has not landed.Check spam. If it was a work address and nothing arrives, contact your account team.
Your join request goes quietNo admin in your organization has acted on it.It expires after 72 hours and you are notified. Ask a colleague who already uses HG MCP Server to approve it.
Signing in with Google or Microsoft fails, or the option is missingYour own company blocks third-party sign-in for these accounts. Nothing is wrong with your HG MCP Server account, and this is not something HG controls.Use the email and password route instead. Sign up with your work email address, then set a password when the claim email arrives. Everything else works the same afterwards.
Setup did not finishSetup did not complete on our side.Contact your account team, HG can re-run it. There is nothing to fix from your end.
